Fall Pests: Rodents

It’s finally starting to feel like fall in North Carolina! The weather is cooler, leaves are changing and football season is in full swing!

As the weather turns cooler, many people may notice some unwanted guests in their homes. These aren’t the creepy crawly variety. These are furry creatures such as mice, squirrels and other rodents, and they can be hazardous to your health and even to your home’s structure.

So, why might you start seeing them in your homes? It’s simple. When the weather turns cooler, humans seek shelter in warm buildings and so do animals. They’re just looking for a warm, safe place to stay.

The good news is you can prevent rodents from ever entering your home by making sure there’s no way for them to get inside! Make sure that all holes and cracks in your home are sealed and caulked. Rodents can enter a home through the smallest of spaces, so it’s important to make sure everything is sealed well.  Also, check that all branches and limbs are trimmed and are not touching your home.
